Can Interlocking Floor Tiles Be Used Outdoors? Everything You Need to Know

One of our most common questions: “Can I use your interlocking tiles on my patio / driveway / pool deck?” The short answer is yes — with the right product selection.

Which Tiles Work Outdoors?

Our PP Ribbed Interlocking Tiles are specifically designed for outdoor use. The open-grid pattern allows rainwater to drain through, preventing puddles and ice formation. They’re UV-stabilized to resist fading and rated for temperatures from -30°C to 120°C.

Drainage Considerations

For outdoor installations, ensure the sub-surface has a slight grade (1-2%) for water runoff. The ribbed tiles elevate the walking surface 18mm above ground, creating a natural air gap that accelerates drying.

Winter Performance

Our tiles are freeze-thaw tested to 500+ cycles. The flexible PP material expands and contracts with temperature changes without cracking — unlike rigid materials like concrete or stone pavers.

What About Solid Tiles?

Solid tiles can be used outdoors in covered areas (carports, covered patios). For fully exposed outdoor areas, we recommend ribbed tiles for their drainage capabilities.
