Load capacity is one of the most important factors when choosing interlocking floor tiles. Different applications require different strength levels, and choosing the wrong tile can lead to cracking and premature failure.
Understanding Load Ratings
Our tiles are rated for dynamic load — the maximum weight that can move across the surface (vehicles, carts, equipment). This is more demanding than static load (stationary weight) and is the standard for commercial and industrial applications.
Load Ratings by Tile Type
- Event/Exhibition Tiles (MF-EVENT): 1,800 lbs/ft² — foot traffic and light equipment
- Ribbed Tiles (MF-RIB): 2,500 lbs/ft² — passenger vehicles and SUVs
- ESD Tiles (MF-ESD): 2,800 lbs/ft² — light industrial equipment
- Coin-Top Tiles (MF-COIN): 3,000 lbs/ft² — forklifts and pallet jacks
- Solid Panels (MF-SOL): 3,200 lbs/ft² — heavy equipment and loaded trucks
Real-World Equivalents
A standard sedan weighs approximately 3,500 lbs distributed across four tires — about 875 lbs per contact point. Our Ribbed Tiles at 2,500 lbs/ft² handle this with a 2.8x safety margin.
