Before: The Disposable Approach
Previously, each renovation project consumed $80,000-$120,000 in disposable floor protection materials — Ram Board, plastic sheeting, and masking tape. After each project, everything went to the dumpster.
The Pilot Program
In early 2025, Meridian’s VP of Construction agreed to pilot our reusable protection system at two properties. The results were decisive:
- Material cost per project dropped from $95,000 to $32,000
- Protection quality improved — zero floor damage claims vs. 3-5 per project previously
- Construction waste volume decreased by 60%
Full Rollout Results
After rolling out reusable protection across all 12 renovation projects in 2025-2026, Meridian documented $2.1 million in cumulative savings and earned a sustainability award from the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
